Understanding our world through science and art

- Written by Daisy Ng

What does science and art have in common? Science and art are more closely related than we think.

Both allow us to understand, and describe our world.

Through science, we construct a sense and structure of ourselves and our world, and attempt to establish a pattern of the past and future. Art is similarly driven by curiosity, exploration and the expression of our comprehension towards others.

Most importantly, both science and art motivate the curiosity in our children, and the pursuit of which drives them to think out of the box - to challenge an existing notion or find a new ways to express ourselves.

SmartCoat has been a longstanding trusted partner of our school in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Over a decade of defending us against various childhood virus, SmartCoat had also successfully provided a solution for us to manage the Covid19 pandemic and kept schools open.

Many parents agree that school-going children are happier. Besides the obvious social interaction at school, it is the feeling of being in control, instead of in limbo, that lifts the spirit of a child and accelerates development.

As a nod to the scientific and community contribution of SmartCoat, we worked with the SmartCoat team to design super fun activities at our recent Family Day.

1. Our children pretend played as GERMS BUSTERS, donning cool make-believe PPE suits, and spraying down their items (& some even sprayed down their parents!) at the event.

2. We even did a hands on science experiment to demonstrate how germs stay away if we wash our hands with soap, and practice good hygiene. A simple, yet impactful activity that you can easily recreate at home, click here to find out how!
